Our college-preparatory program is rigorous and personalized, and it has taken advantage of best-practice ideas from independent schools and colleges across the country. The University High School program includes a comprehensive mentoring program, a January Term devoted to creative and innovative learning experiences and a daily meeting that helps to foster a distinct school culture and a school community based on trust, respect and shared understanding. At the center of the University High School experience is a set of ideas about students: that they are seen as partners in their education; that they be challenged, listened to, taken seriously and helped to become active participants in their learning and in their lives; that they be encouraged to think about the meaning of their lives and about others, and to think critically; that they be encouraged to develop for themselves a sense of what truth is.
