At University High School, we ask students to think deeply about their work; to ask questions of their teachers and one another; to take creative risks; and to push themselves to connect their classroom work to the greater community. In athletics, we created an inclusive policy that encourages students of all abilities to participate in competitive IHSAA interscholastic competition. Our fine and performing arts program allows students in choir, jazz band, string ensemble and percussion ensemble to compose and perform. We encourage students to collaborate and perform their original pieces in assemblies and at formal music concerts.
 
The school day includes a daily morning meeting, a time for sharing creative endeavors, ideas about happenings of the day and reflections on student work. Community matters to University, and we devote thoughtful time to creating community on a daily basis. The best way to learn about a school is to visit it for a day.

I invite students to spend a full day at University. The shadow visit allows students to experience a typical day at University, to ask questions and to reach a fuller understanding of the University High School difference.

I invite parents (on a day other than their child's shadowing day) to visit here for all or part of a school day. We welcome interested parents to take a close look at who we are, what we believe in and how we live our core values of diversity, commitment to excellence, stewardship, mutual respect and trust, personal responsibility and creativity.
