Final exams for the spring semester begin on Tuesday, May 28 and run through Thursday, May 30. Click here to view the full final exam schedule.

Exams will be taken in the room where the class normally meets unless the teacher has said otherwise. If students have three exams on Tuesday, they may work with the teacher and their mentor to reschedule one of their exams to Wednesday’s flex period, or another period. Please talk to your teacher and mentor to arrange this.

If the final exam is a final project/paper, the teacher may or may not require you to meet during the final exam time. However, if you are on campus during the final exam period, for accountability, you must sit in the course’s classroom even if there is no final.

Seniors may opt out of two final exams per year, noting that:

  • Course must be one where the teacher allows opt-outs (course policy)
  • Student must have earned an A- or higher in the course, and
  • Also note that a senior may not opt out of the final exam in both the fall and the spring for the same class/discipline. For this purpose, two advanced English electives count as one course, as do two advanced social studies electives.

University High School will be open on final exam days from 7:15 a.m. to 6 p.m., as per usual. However, students are only required to be at school when they are testing. If a student does not have an exam until 1 p.m., for example, he or she does not have to be at school until that time. Conversely, if a student is finished with exams at 12 p.m., he or she may leave school at that time.

Students may not leave campus between exams.

Students who qualify for extended time must coordinate those exams with Mrs. Walerstein. In general, the extended time schedule will be:

Tuesday 8-11 a.m. and 12-3 p.m.

Wednesday 8-11 a.m. and 12-3 p.m.

Thursday 7:30-10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
