University High School will send six cross country runners to compete in the Regional Cross Country meet on Saturday, Nov. 1, marking the largest group of athletes in school history to advance to regionals. The event will be held at the course next to Brownsburg East Middle School, with races scheduled throughout the morning.
Laurel Gough-McKeown and Kelley Trowbridge will compete at 10:30 a.m., followed by Finlay Reid, Mario Buoscio, Henry Wang, and Walter Wilson at 11:15 a.m. These athletes are positioned among the top 20 percent of competitors in a highly competitive region—one of the fastest in both the state and the nation—making this an exciting opportunity for UHS cross country.
The top five teams and the top 15 individual runners not on a qualifying team will advance to the state finals. Details about the finals will be shared next week for any athletes who move on.
Spectators are encouraged to attend the event to support the runners. Gates will open to the public at 9:00 a.m., and the course will be available to participating teams starting at 8:30 a.m. Please note that early entry for tailgating or tent setup will not be permitted. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased online or by credit card at the gate, as cash will not be accepted. Advance purchase is recommended to avoid delays. Tickets to the event may be purchased here.
Coach Ashley Crockett-Lohr shares, “The six Trailblazers who have advanced to regionals have been setting the pace—literally and figuratively—for the cross country team this season. With the help of a few others, these six have served as an example for how we train, how we compete, and how we treat each other. I couldn’t be more proud that they will represent University in a large and competitive race on Saturday!” This group of runners has shown dedication and resilience throughout the season, and we are excited to see them compete at this level.
