University High School is hosting a panel discussion – “Environmental Wonders of Our Community” – on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 7 p.m. in Fairbanks Hall.
Explore the history and wonder of our community’s ever-changing environmental landscape with a cross-disciplinary panel of experts. Our guests will highlight both large and small (even tiny!) aspects of Central Indiana’s natural environment and invite you to pause and appreciate the beauty of these wonders and the impact they can have on us.
Our panelists are Bob Barr of the IUPUI Center for Earth & Environmental Sciences, Nancy Germano of Butler University’s History & Anthropology department, and Joe Jarzen of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. Our moderator is Urban Conservationist Claire Lane with the Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District.

This event is the final University’s World of Wonders Community Read series. Aimee Nezhukumatathil’s World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments was our summer read and set our theme of wonder for 2021-22. Serendipitously, Indiana Humanities also selected World of Wonders for their 2022 One State / One Story program and chose University High School as one of 28 partners statewide to host events celebrating the natural world and its wonders based on the reading of World of Wonders.
