Congratulations to University High School seniors Monica Chavan, Neil Chavan, Alex Rosebrough, and Julia Wang on being named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. These four Trailblazers will continue on in the competition for some 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth about $35 million. These four students make up 1.4 percent of University High School’s student body, and UHS is one of the top schools in Central Indiana in terms of the percentage of National Merit Semifinalists.
From the approximately 16,000 Semifinalists, about 15,000 are expected to advance to the finalist level, and in February they will be notified of this designation. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
