Parents Should Report Tardies & Absences in Advance When Possible

Parents must notify the school of any prearranged absence (e.g., college visit or out-of-town engagement) before the date of absence. For these absences to be excused, an administrator must approve them. To submit a request for a prearranged absence, you may use the form in your parent portal by clicking the “Attendance Report” button or email School Secretary Kathy Davis.

When a student must be absent due to illness or emergency, a parent or guardian should notify the school through the form in the parent portal, the school attendance line (call 317-733-4475 and choose 2 from the main menu or extension 501), or email to Kathy Davis at kdavis@universityhighschool.org by 8:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. Any absence or dismissal not reported before the start of the school day or validated afterward by a doctor’s note or note of a family emergency is considered an unexcused absence.
