UHS students have access to on-campus mental health support provided by highly qualified therapists. Sessions can be scheduled before or after school, during flex/lunch, or study halls, with a quiet, private space available.
Beth Lohman, LMHC: With over 15 years of experience in the wellness field, Beth has worked extensively with teenagers, young adults, and athletes. She is passionate about empowering others, equipping them with tools for growth, and guiding them toward becoming the best version of themselves. Beth has been working with the University community for several years, and has built great trust and rapport with students and staff.
Lindsay Gayle, LMHC, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (she/her)Lindsay and her team at Circle City Play Therapy offer creative, interactive support to help students navigate life’s challenges. They are available for ongoing sessions with students who may benefit from extra support. Lindsay also offers free 15-minute phone consultations for families who want to learn more. Kinsley Castro, under the supervision of a licensed Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, Kinsley specializes in anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-esteem, peer and family relationships, and gender identity. She uses a collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming approach and incorporates mindfulness and expressive activities to engage youth, with a special focus on supporting LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients.
Brittany Waitt, supports students experiencing anxiety, depression, peer relationship challenges, family conflict, ADHD, and grief. She has a special passion for working with adoptees, neurodivergent youth, and athletes. Brittany earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marian University in 2024.
Kandace Kyere LSW: Kandace works with academically thriving Black teens and young adults, helping high-achieving Black youth build confidence, reduce stress, and strengthen a positive racial and cultural identity. Her goal is to help young people accept themselves, build confidence, and reduce stress, anxiety, overwhelm, and the pressure to be perfect.
Michelle Butler, MS, is a counselor at Collaborative Counseling and Nutrition who specializes in eating disorders, disordered eating, intuitive eating, and body image concerns. She also supports clients navigating anxiety and rumination cycles, loss and grief, relationship challenges, and religious deconstruction. With training in Internal Family Systems, Michelle provides a collaborative and compassionate space for healing, particularly for those struggling with body acceptance, self-harm, or suicidal ideation.
