The team — with Alex Brinkman, Christina Duffield, Alex Johnson, Jack Paganelli, and Evan Vesper — went 3-1 in the morning matches. They lost by one point to Valparaiso. They started the knockout round with the #3 seed. With wins over North Central and Harrison, University advanced to the championship match against undefeated Zionsville High School.
Zionsville took an early lead in the match, but University surged to take the lead in the fourth round. Unfortunately, Zionsville answered one of the remaining questions correctly and won the match, 245-260.
Taking 2nd place in the state is a huge accomplishment for the Trailblazers. It is only the second time University has played in the state championship round. Congratulations to the UHS Academic Team on a great season and a nice run in the state tournament.
