The RoboBlazers wrapped up an incredible season with a strong showing at the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas! One of just twelve teams representing Indiana, University’s team qualified for World’s based on points, highlighting their consistent high performance throughout the season.
World’s brought together 600 teams from 17 countries, divided into eight divisions. Over two intense days, the RoboBlazers competed in 10 qualification matches, demonstrating the teamwork, resilience, and “never-give-up” attitude that have defined their season.
Even beyond the competition, the students embraced every learning opportunity. When a key part of their robot’s drive system malfunctioned mid-match, RoboBlazers quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue as a team, relying on the kind of quick problem-solving skills that set them apart all year. They also collaborated with the president of the company that developed their vision camera — working directly with him to troubleshoot technical challenges.
This year marked the team’s fourth trip to Worlds in program history. Impressively, the RoboBlazers have qualified for Worlds in four of the six seasons since the team’s founding, missing one year due to competition results and one year when Worlds was canceled due to COVID.
The experience wasn’t just about robots, though. Between matches, the students found time to bond, play games, and celebrate their hard-earned spot among the world’s best. They returned home exhausted but inspired, already brainstorming new ideas to take their work even further next season.
