University High School’s Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is launching a fundraiser to support communities in Central America, specifically in Guatemala and Nicaragua, through the Pulsera Project.
The Pulsera Project is a fair-trade nonprofit organization that empowers and connects Central American artists with students across the United States. By selling handwoven bracelets, or “pulseras,” the project raises awareness and funds for education, community development, and fair wages for artists in Central America. Since its inception, the Pulsera Project has partnered with over 3,800 schools in the U.S.
Members of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica will be selling pulseras during lunch from Monday, September 23, through Thursday, October 3. Additionally, at this year’s Culture Fest, they will also offer “bolsitas”—small, handmade purses—available for purchase alongside the pulseras.
