This winter sports season, there will be a new team of Trailblazers competing for their school. For the first time in school history, UHS now has a swim team.
Led by coach (and UHS assistant head of school) Jamie Napier, the girls team had its first practice on Monday and is up to seven female swimmers. The boys will begin practices on Nov. 10, and there are four male swimmers signed up at this point (more may still join). The team practices one morning a week at the Monon Center and two mornings a week in the UHS weight room, and they practice three afternoons per week at the Healthplex Sports Club.
Coach Napier is excited to bring this sport to University High School. He swam competitively (and did springboard diving) in high school and earned an athletic scholarship at Transylvania University, where he swam for two years. We are excited to see how their inaugural season goes! Good luck, Trailblazers!
