The University High School Math Club is on a roll this season! This year, the team has advanced to the Elite Eight of Math Madness, a competition they participate in each year. Plus, there are several students ranked nationally in this competition for their math abilities.
In addition, the Math Club competed in the annual Rose-Hulman High School Mathematics Contest on Nov. 8, and the team won several individual and class awards. In terms of class awards, UHS’s senior team of Julia Wang, Alex Rosebrough, Sylvia Huang, Neil Chavan, and Emily Zaniker took fourth place of all senior teams, and the sophomore team of Ray Lu, Hubert Wang, Zachary Chen, and Evan Vesper took third place of all sophomore teams.
Individually, UHS students took three of the four first-place prizes with perfect scores at Rose-Hulman. Freshman Jay Maturi, junior Christina Duffield, and senior Julia Wang all had perfect scores and took first place in their respective classes. Other individual ribbon winners were:
