Throughout the day, students engaged in advocacy efforts focused on suicide prevention, crisis care response funding, and expanded mental health care access for youth and veterans. They had the opportunity to hear from speakers about the importance of advocacy and meet with state representatives and senators to share their stories and discuss the impact of mental health legislation.
In addition to their advocacy work, students met with the state advocate for Special Education Services to learn how state laws affect funding for educational support. This conversation provided valuable insight into the legislative process and how policies shape access to essential resources for students across Indiana.
University High School is proud of these students for using their voices to support meaningful change. Their dedication to mental health awareness and policy advocacy reflects the power of student leadership and the importance of civic engagement.
