In fall 2025, University High School was invited by the Carmel Sister Cities International organization to explore the creation of a sister school partnership with Nagano Senior High School. The opportunity marked an exciting step toward expanding global learning and cultural exchange for University students.

As part of the process, two educators from Nagano Senior High School visited campus for three days to learn more about the University community and its distinctive programs. We were honored to welcome Ms. Kazumi Fujiwara and Mr. Kiyoshi Morimoto, who spent time meeting with students and teachers, visiting classes, and learning about University’s signature programs and approach to teaching and learning.

The visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, formally establishing a sister school partnership between University High School and Nagano Senior High School. The agreement lays the groundwork for future collaboration and meaningful cultural exchange between students and faculty in Carmel and Kawachinagano.

We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will create. The first exchange is planned for fall 2026, when University High School will welcome students from Nagano Senior High School for a week-long visit on our campus. The first group of University students is expected to travel to Kawachinagano in 2027 or 2028, continuing the relationship and deepening the connection between our two schools.

This partnership represents an important step in strengthening University’s global connections and giving students firsthand opportunities to learn from peers around the world.
