University High School is excited to announce two additions to our faculty and staff for the 2015-16 school year.
Joshua Harris, Ph.D., will be our new music instructor for the 2015-16 school year. Dr. Harris comes to University from Sweet Briar College in Virginia, where he was most recently an assistant professor of music. He has a bachelor’s degree in music education and master’s and doctoral degrees in music composition. His teaching experience includes performance and non-performance classes at the high school and college levels. Dr. Harris replaces Damien Geter, who is moving to Portland this summer.
Omolade (“Lade”) Akande will be our newest Director of College Counseling for the 2015-16 school year. Lade comes to University High School with extensive experience on both sides of the college admission process. As an Admission Counselor at Butler University, Lade made admission decisions for more than 1,200 undergraduate students annually, and she gave input on decisions about scholarship awards. As the College Success Coordinator at the Center for Leadership Development’s College Prep Institute, Lade counseled more than 100 high school students on applying to college and finding good-fit scholarship opportunities. Lade will join our other Director of College Counseling, Maddy MacAllister, beginning July 1, 2015.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Harris and Lade Akande to University High School!
