Next Wednesday, Mar. 12, students at University High School will step beyond the classroom for Community Day, a dedicated time for experiential learning, service, and preparation for the future. Each grade level will engage in activities that will provide meaningful opportunities for growth, exploration, and reflection.
9th Grade: Stewardship & Service
Freshmen will focus on Stewardship, volunteering off-campus in small groups at various partner organizations. Students should gather in Fairbanks Lobby at 8:30 a.m. for attendance and orientation before heading to their service locations. They will return to campus for lunch and afternoon activities.
10th Grade: College Exploration Road Trip
Sophomores will hit the road with College Counseling to tour Indiana University and DePauw University, getting a firsthand look at college campuses and life beyond high school. Buses will depart at 8:30 a.m. and return at approximately 4:45 p.m.
11th Grade: Commitment to Excellence & SAT Testing
Juniors will demonstrate their Commitment to Excellence by taking the SAT. Students should arrive at the gym no later than 8:20 a.m. with a charged computer, calculator, and writing utensils. Those with extended time accommodations should confirm their start time and testing locations with Mrs. Walerstein. After the exam, students will dismiss early, but may participate in afternoon activities on campus.
12th Grade: College Transition Preparation
Seniors will spend the morning in small groups with teachers and alumni, preparing for their transition to college life. In the afternoon, they will join freshman students for activities on campus, fostering connections and offering insights as upperclassmen.
Community Day is an opportunity for students to engage in hands-on learning, explore future possibilities, and contribute to their communities. We look forward to seeing students make the most of this unique day.
