University Welcomes Two New Teachers

University High School is excited to announce two additions to our faculty for the 2016-17 school year.

Meet Meredith Hogan, Math Instructor

Meredith Hogan will be a math teacher at University High School starting this fall. Ms. Hogan comes to University High School from the Early Career Academy in Indianapolis, where she taught high school math. Prior to taking a position at the Early Career Academy, she spent three years teaching math and science and coaching robotics at The Buckley School, an independent K-12 school in Sherman Oaks, CA.

Ms. Hogan grew up in Philadelphia, and she has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from Purdue University. After she graduated from Purdue, she spent several years working as a systems engineer for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems in Redondo Beach, CA. She began teaching in 2012.

When asked what she is looking forward to at University High School, Ms. Hogan says, “I am most excited about January Term because I will get to work with students on independent projects.”

Meet Anna Shailer, French/ESL Instructor

Anna Shailer will join University High School as a French/ESL teacher this fall. Ms. Shailer comes to University with extensive teaching experience at both the high school and the college level. Most recently, she was an adjunct professor of French at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and a part-time French teacher at Roncalli High School in Indianapolis. She also has taught at Butler University, Indiana University, and the Academie de Strasbourg in Sarre-Union, France.

Ms. Shailer is originally from Columbus, Ohio, and she has a bachelor’s degree in French and Interdepartmental Studies from Wittenberg University and a master’s degree in French Literature from Indiana University.

Ms. Shailer says, “I am most excited about coming to University High School to work with the students and get to know my new colleagues. The learning environment of the school is very relaxed and personable. I look forward to being a part of the community.”
