University High School is excited to announce that Daniel Knox will be our new music teacher for the 2016-17 school year. Mr. Knox will replace Dr. Josh Harris, who is returning to Sweet Briar College next year.
Mr. Knox comes to University from Cannon School (Concord, NC) where he is the band director for the middle and upper school. He has bachelor’s degrees in music education and tuba performance from Appalachian State University, and he has several years of experience teaching band and orchestra at the middle and high school levels.
Mr. Knox is a self-proclaimed lover of technology (you can count on him to have the latest device) and a fan of camping, hiking, and fishing. He is also an Eagle Scout, and he founded a chapter of Epsilon Tau Pi for Eagle Scouts at Appalachian State.
When asked what impressed him about University, Mr. Knox said, “During my visit at University, I observed a culture of students and teachers working together to create an atmosphere where collaboration and collegiality are at the core. I am most excited about meeting new people and creating music with all the ensembles!”
