University High School is excited to introduce a Learning Support Services Instructional Assistant, Math and Science Instructional Assistant, and English and Social Studies Instructional Assistant who joined our community this fall. Please join us in welcoming Jake Hon, Jack Paganelli, and Jake Sipes-Salter!

MEET JAKE HON, LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

Jake Hon is the new Learning Support Services Instructional Assistant at University High School. Hon comes to University from Hanover College where he graduated with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. During his time at Hanover, Hon served as the Vice President and Senate Representative for the 7th Grade Mentors Program and worked with students to improve socialization, study skills, relationship skills, and self-expression through science projects, creative activities, and sports games. He also worked as a teaching assistant at the “Learning Under the Sun” science enrichment camp. Prior to attending Hanover, Hon graduated from University and is excited to return as both a 2018 alumnus and staff member.

Jake loves to play all types of games, including board games, video games and Dungeons and Dragons. He also enjoys sports statistics and fantasy sports. 

“I am excited to return to my high school and hope to help people in the same way University helped me!” said Hon. 

MEET JACK PAGANELLI, MATH & SCIENCE INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

Jack Paganelli is a Math and Science Instructional Assistant at University High School this fall. Paganelli comes to University from Kenyon College, where he majored in Physics and minored in English. During his time at Kenyon, Paganelli served as the Captain of Kenyon College’s Squash Team. Prior to attending Kenyon, Paganelli graduated from University and is excited to return as both a 2018 alumnus and staff member. 

Among other things, Jack enjoys watching old movies, playing chess, and writing short stories. 

“I’m looking forward to giving back to University High School, not only as a faculty member, but also as an alumnus,” said Paganelli. “I’m also excited for the chance to work with some of the teachers whose classes I took when I was a student.”

MEET JAKE SIPES-SALTER, ENGLISH & SOCIAL STUDIES INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

Jake Sipes-Salter is the new English and Social Studies Instructional Assistant at University High School. Sipes-Salter comes to University from Hanover College where he double-majored in history and secondary education and was awarded the 2018 and 2019 College Mentors for Kids “Mentor of the Year” for the Hanover College Chapter. Following graduation, he worked as an Instructional Assistant at North Wayne Elementary School where he delivered individualized instruction to fifth and first grade students. Jake has also served as a student teacher in U.S. History at Southport High School in Indianapolis. 

Jake has a chocolate labradoodle named Louie and loves to spend his summers going on road trips. He’s visited 28 out of the 50 states and his most recent trip was to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. 

“I’m most excited to be in the classroom with students and learn about myself as an educator,” said Sipes-Salter. “University is such a supportive community and I’m glad that I can be here to contribute to that.”
