University High School is excited to welcome one new and one returning faculty member to our community this fall. Please join us in welcoming Andra Edgell and welcoming back Praseeda Govindadas!
Meet Andra Edgell, Math Teacher
Andra Edgell will be a math teacher at University High School starting this fall. She comes to University from Zionsville Community High School, where she has taught Algebra II, Finite Math, and Advanced Math Topics for more than five years. She also led the Algebra II Professional Learning Community for two years at Zionsville, and was appointed to a district committee to develop tools for teachers to improve their cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. She has a degree in Secondary Math Education from IUPUI.
Edgell is married with three children and two grandchildren (plus one on the way). Her family lived in London for a few years and enjoyed experiences such as waving at Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and the Queen Mother on their way to the Ascot Races, visiting historical sites, and celebrating Guy Fawkes Day. Her hobbies include board games, puzzles, yoga, and hiking. During the recent time of social distancing, she and her family have enjoyed finding some new, more out-of-the-way places to get their “hiking fix.”
“Regarding what I am most excited about in coming to University High School, I would say it is the opportunity to invest in a community that values and prioritizes learning in the context of relationships,” she said. “I am looking forward to collaborating with interesting and committed peers, as well as engaging with students, to unlock all the delightful mysteries of math!”
Meet Praseeda Govindadas, Assistant Director of Learning Support Services
Praseeda Govindadas will return to the Learning Support Services department at University High School starting this fall. She worked as a learning specialist in Learning Support Services from 2013 to 2016, and in the years since her departure she has worked as Chief Operating Officer, a founding board member, and Chief Experience Officer of RestUp LLC. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a bachelor’s degree in education, and a master’s degree in teaching.
Govindadas is an avid traveler and reader who does yoga every day. One of her favorite sweet treats is peanut M&Ms.
“I am very excited to get to know the students and to rejoin the University High School community!”
