Sophomore Jayda Dawn is performing at The Cabaret in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday, September 21. Jayda has the honor of opening the second show for Emmy-nominated actor and Grammy award-winning poet and musician Malcolm-Jamal Warner with Miles Long at 8 p.m. as part of the Indy Jazz Fest.
Jayda’s performance opportunity was provided by her theater company, Asante Arts Institute, and she has been hard at work rehearsing for the past month. She will be singing a bossa nova version of “What is Love” by Janelle Monáe from the Rio soundtrack.
