Six University High School student vocalists and pianists participated in the Indiana State School Music Association’s (ISSMA) Solo and Ensemble district competition on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Two students earned gold. Freshman Caine Ardayfio earned a gold rating in Group II for his piano performance, and senior Grace Rosebrough earned a gold rating in Group I for her vocal performance.

Rosebrough’s gold rating qualified her for the state competition on Saturday, Feb. 17, where she also earned a gold rating.

To perform in Group I, students must choose a piece from a list of challenging music. Students earning a gold rating played a performance that was “outstanding in nearly every detail.”

Congratulations to Rosebrough and Ardayfio, as well as to freshman Faith Sponseller (vocalist) and sophomore Christine Chen (pianist) who represented University High School and earned silver at the district competition.
