The American College of Cardiology (ACC) recently announced the 20 students selected for its 2021 Young Scholars Program, and University High School junior Vishnu Iyer is on the list!
The ACC’s Young Scholars Program is designed for high school juniors and seniors, as well as college freshmen and sophomores, who have an interest in a science career. Through the program, which kicks off in March with the ACC’s 2021 Annual Scientific Session (virtual), Iyer will be paired with an ACC member mentor through April 2022. Together they will complete a year of research and education about cardiology and cardiovascular disease.
“I will greatly benefit from this program as I will gain more insight about the cardiology field,” said Iyer. “I will also enjoy interactions with doctors. I will learn more biology that can help me in school and also in college as I want to explore a premed career.”
