This fall, University is launching Freshman Flex, a new initiative designed to help ninth graders transition into high school and thrive in our community. Meeting in small groups during Academic Flex time, students explore questions like “Who are we as a community?” and “What does thriving look like here?” while also reflecting on their own values, skills, and goals.

Throughout the semester, sessions will be led by faculty, college counselors, and even upperclassmen, covering topics such as community expectations, core values, gratitude, and personal growth. Students will participate in activities that connect them to University’s culture and guide them in shaping their own high school journey, from building a strong academic foundation to considering future goals.

By the end of the semester, freshmen will not only have a clearer sense of who they are as individuals and as members of the UHS community, but they’ll also be equipped with tools to navigate high school with confidence. Freshman Flex is more than a class—it’s an intentional, guided introduction to life as a Trailblazer.
