On Thursday, May 30, 2024, University’s Black Affinity honored Class of 2024 members at the Black Affinity Graduation Celebration at University High School.

The event was emceed by Anyah Turley (’25) and remarks were delivered by Associate Head of School Dave Vesper on behalf of Head of School Alicia LaMagdeleine, Director of Wellness and Black Affinity sponsor Lade Akande, and alum Ronelle Dorant (’22). Faculty member Franklin Oliver delivered a poetry reading. In addition, Elgin Phillips (’25) shared the history of the Kente stoles before they were presented to graduating members of Black Affinity. Each of the graduates spoke before receiving their stole. Their speeches included words of gratitude for people who have supported them and advice for those would would come after them.

The Black Affinity Class of 2024 is Jonathan Akinwande, Jackson Bledsoe, Kendall Booth, Khari Dennis, Aiden Dorant, Avah Eckels, Sophie Francis, Bryce Gray, Montgomery Holland, Christopher Millen, Lindsey Millen, Robert Russell, Jayden Seaton, Brian Shaw, and Nathan Weems.
